2022 Bernau Estate Pinot Noir

2022 Bernau Estate Pinot Noir

This single vineyard designate is sourced from Bernau Estate Vineyard in the Dundee Hills. Named in honor of our Founders Jim and Jan Bernau, this vineyard is the home of Domaine Willamette, our méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine facility.

On the Nose: A bouquet of raspberry tart, cherry pie and tamarind candy greets the nose followed by darker smells of root beer, toasted oak and toffee.

On the Palate: Flavors of red currant, cherry coke, dates, cranberry, leather, marzipan and crème de cassis please the palate. The wine is fresh and light, with balanced tannins and body for a lingering finish.

Food Pairings: Enjoy with savory dishes such as pork tenderloin with balsamic glaze, prosciutto-wrapped baked brie rolls or creamy mushroom risotto.

Peak Drinkability: 2024 - 2032

Bernau Estate Vineyard
Dundee Hills AVA

Named in honor of Founder Jim Bernau, Bernau Estate Vineyard is located in the Dundee Hills and the future home to our Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine facility, set to open in 2022. The vines at Bernau Estate Vineyard are farmed using biodynamic techniques, with plans to apply for a Demeter certification in 2022. Biodynamic farming uses sustainable, organic practices, including composting and the use of special preparations, to holistically promote the soil's long-term health.

The vineyard has a very gentle south west facing slope and mostly Woodburn soils, which are deep, nutrient rich and well drained soils. The original 15 acres of Pinot Noir was planted in 1994 and in 2019 we added 9 acres of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
